The evening was filled with horse rides, yard games, street soccer, a mobile game truck, face painting, and live music from a DJ and mariachi band.
The celebration honored community leaders through the Monica Echeverri Casarez Neighborhood Hero Awards, with Craig Grissom receiving the Entrepreneur Award and a $10,000 prize, Alexis Dishman named Partner Awardee, and Charles “Chuck” Nolen recognized as Supporter Awardee.
The community itself also had a chance to celebrate entrepreneurs by voting for their favorite vendors. Penny Love Fitness took the top prize in our Entrepreneur Showcase, followed by The Duey Dealer and Bolt Detroit. In the Food Truck category, WeEats Catering came in first, with Waka by Baobab Fare and Sisters on Roll close behind.
Altogether, we were proud to share over $30,000 directly with entrepreneurs last night — a reflection of our commitment to recognizing and reinvesting in the people who make Detroit’s neighborhoods stronger every day.
The night also featured the premiere of ProsperUs’ Stories of Legacy Builders video series, spotlighting entrepreneurs Fanta Jatta of Maani Jannah, Tahura Holi & Nikunj Jain of Hamtramck Bazaar, and José-David Robinson of COMSA Detroit. Watch the video here.
